Description

Mail the old fashioned way -by dogsled! Mushers sworn in as mail carriers - carry your mail! Here's how to participate:

Order your envelopes and when you recieve them:
Insert your letter to anyone - anywhere, and address as usual. Afix appropriate postage.
Return to the Beargrease Office in the envelope provided by the deadline (January 15, 2009)

When we recieve it we:

Have it signed by the musher/mail carrier
Have a unique cancellation (postmark) afixed and seal in a glasine envelope (for protection)
Mushers carry the mail as they leave the start. In 2009 Marathon Mail will be collected at Beaver Bay, burial place of race name sake John Beargrease! Mid Distance Mail will be collected at the finish line and put in the regular mail stream. - In a few days - your letter will be in the hands of your intended receipient. In addition to the much welcome communication from you they have a unique piece of art!
In 2009 we will be bringing back designs used in 2006 and 2007 illustrated by Clyde Holmes (2006) and Colleen Ferrian (2007).
